The next-generation research team will also build a non-parallel-connected wind power desalination project with a daily output of 10,000 tons of fresh water in Lianyungang.

As one of the national “973” projects in the field of wind energy, the research team recently built a demonstration project of 100 tons of wind power reverse osmosis desalination per day in Dafeng. In this project, a 30kW wind turbine is used to directly supply seawater desalination equipment. The top of the tower is a “big windmill”. The tower below is a desalination device. The overall structure is very compact. The effluent quality is in line with the national drinking water standards, and the comprehensive energy consumption of ton water is 3.6kWh. .

Zhang Rong said, "The great cost of desalination of water is energy consumption, using wind energy instead of traditional Although the cost of electricity and desalinated seawater is higher than normal natural water, it is certainly lower than the cost of remote water diversion and conventional seawater desalination in water shortage areas."

According to reports, the wind speed in coastal Jiangsu is maintained at 7-8 meters per second. Experts have estimated that offshore wind farms with a capacity of more than 10 million kilowatts can be built along the coast. Although the prospects are very attractive, wind power also has two major “stumbling blocks.” One is high costs and the second is instability. It is costly to join the grid. How to solve these problems? Experts have come up with a way to put forward a "non-grid-connected" program, that is, to make "turbulent" wind energy not connected to the grid, but directly used to supply large consumers of energy. Taking non-grid-connected wind power desalination as an example, the cost of offshore wind farms can be reduced by 25% to 35%, wind utilization efficiency can be increased by 12% to 15%, and the price of wind power can be said to be at or below the price of coal power.

Experts said that the “non-grid-connected wind power desalination system” has broken through the single application mode of large-scale wind power integration and not only expanded the space for wind power applications, opened up new channels for seawater desalination, but also avoided the pollution to the environment. broad. In addition to seawater desalination, industries such as non-ferrous metallurgy, chlor-alkali industry and large-scale hydrogen production are also adapted to wind power. In the future, non-grid-connected wind power will be more widely used, such as for urban heating and cooling, electric vehicles, and green mining.

It is understood that in 2010 China added 18,927.99 MW of installed wind power capacity and cumulative wind power installed capacity of 44,733.29 MW, ranking first in the world. It is estimated that the installed capacity of wind power in China will reach 150 million kilowatts by 2020, and Jiangsu wind power equipment manufacturing capacity will account for more than 50% of the country's total.

According to another data, the world's desalination capacity at the end of 2009 was 35.9 million cubic meters per day, which solved the problem of drinking water for more than 100 million people.
