Adding 6.5 million vehicles to the Chinese market On May 13, Toyota announced that it has recalled a total of about 5 million vehicles equipped with Takada airbags worldwide, involving 35 models, including Corolla, Vios, and Yaris. The vehicle production date is between March 2003 and November 2007. Of these, 1.36 million were recalled in Japan, 1.27 million were recalled in Europe, 637,000 were recalled in the United States, and 18,000 were recalled in Canada.
Toyota said that the front passenger side airbag inflator is defective and will be replaced with new parts manufactured by Daicel. Takada will supply replacement parts for the front passenger side airbag inflator because the product is not available from other suppliers.
A Toyota spokesperson said that there were no reports of car accidents or casualties in the recalled vehicles. The purpose of the recall was to test the investigation.
In addition to Toyota, Nissan also announced the recall of 1.56 million Takada airbags worldwide. Among them, 563,000 vehicles were recalled in Europe, 326,000 vehicles were recalled in North America, 288,000 vehicles were recalled in Japan, and 274,000 vehicles were recalled in China. Nissan did not give specific models.
Nissan spokesman Dion Corbett said that the car owners will be notified from June this year, and there are no reports of car accidents or casualties in the recalled vehicles.
The first big car recall in history Since 2008, Takada's defective airbags have surfaced. By the end of 2014, the world's major auto companies have recalled more than 24 million Takada airbags. If the recall of 6.5 million vehicles is added, the total will be more than 30.5 million, which is the largest car recall to date.

The scale of recalls related to Takada airbags will be further expanded in the future. At the same time that Toyota Nissan announced its recall on May 13, Honda also announced that it was ready to continue recalling the Takada airbags, but no specific models have yet been given.
