Huisman's first Hybrid Boom Crane is about to be completed
In April 2015, as an expert in global lifting, drilling and subsea solutions, Huisman will be the first 900-ton rope-variable knuckle crane at the Huisman China terminal in Zhangzhou, namely HybridBoomCrane , the final factory acceptance test. After the crane was fully assembled in the main assembly shop, it was converted from the 2,400-ton wharf crane “Qingtian Hang†from Huisman to the vertical. In the next few weeks, Huisman will focus on the factory acceptance test of the crane, which will then be shipped to the Ulsan Hyundai Heavy Industries Group in South Korea and installed, commissioned and tested on the Subsea7 SevenArctic vessel.
      Huisman changed the name of the crane from the original "RopeLuffingKnuckleBoomCrane" to "HybridBoomCrane" to better reflect its unique characteristics. This crane combines the advantages of a conventional pedestal crane with a traditional knuckle boom crane. Its innovative design makes its main arm and knuckle arm structure lighter, and the perfect load curve is no less than that of a pedestal crane with a fixed boom; and its extendable folding arm enables it to be fully loaded. Achieving a typical lifting height that is usually only possible with a fixed boom. In addition, the most important thing is that the crane retains the main advantages of traditional knuckle boom cranes, such as low suspension points, low load fluctuations, etc. These advantages make knuckle boom cranes widely used at sea and Deep sea construction work.
The advantage of HybridBoomCrane is not just the innovative boom design. For example, the entire crane is fully electric, and this reliable, environmentally friendly drive system precisely controls crane and load movements with low noise, low maintenance and no risk of oil spills. In addition, the real-time wind wave compensation system and damping system installed by the crane further improve the safety and accuracy of the installation of deep sea infrastructure components.
