Loma Trident

Recently, the "Trident" II D5 submarine strategic missile developed by the US Navy's Loma company successfully completed the 150th flight test and created a new reliability record for large ballistic missiles.
The US Navy launched two unarmed "Trident" II D5 missiles in the Atlantic Ocean using the "Ohio" strategic nuclear submarine. These two tests were the 149th and 150 successful flight tests since the 1989 missile was finalized. The US Navy uses missile flight tests to monitor missile performance and the operational capabilities of nuclear submarines deployed after overhaul. The test missile is equipped with a series of safety devices and flight telemetry sensors.
This test was the first to use new modern aviation equipment to control the flight of missiles. The upgrade of the system is part of the D5 missile life extension project, which aims to embed modern technology into the missile's electronic system, extending the service life and reliability of the missile, making it available for the next generation of strategic nuclear submarines.
The "Trident " II D5 was deployed in 1990 and is currently equipped with the US "Ohio" and British "avant-garde" strategic nuclear submarines. The missile uses a three-stage solid rocket engine with inertial guidance and a maximum range of 4,000 nautical miles. It can be equipped with multiple guided warheads. Lockheed Martin has been the prime contractor for the US Navy's strategic missiles since 1955, and has also provided the Royal Navy with the "North Star" submarine strategic missile.
