Japanese experts are optimistic about China's fluorination industry

“China has the advantages of fluorite resources needed for the development of fluorine chemical industry and has a certain amount of innovative R&D capabilities. By strengthening technical exchanges with foreign counterparts, the development of Chinese fluorine chemical workers will be faster than Japan.” Hiroshi Harada, president of the Japan F&F International Association, said in an interview with reporters in Beijing last week. The purpose of her trip was to discuss with the China Fluorine-silicone Organic Materials Industry Association about the "Seventh China-Japan Fluorine Chemical Industry Symposium" to be held this September.

Harada Hiroshi said that the F&F International Association of Japan has more than 20 members, all of whom are engaged in the research and development and production of fluorine chemicals. Among these companies, there are companies engaged in the production of organic fluoropolymer materials and CFC substitutes, as well as enterprises engaged in the production of fluorine-containing liquid crystal materials, fluorine-containing pharmaceuticals and pesticides, and various fluorine-containing intermediates. Since Japan does not have fluorite resources, in view of long-term development, Japanese fluorinated industrial companies have focused their development on the use of low-value and high-value-added products in recent years.

The overall strength of Japan's fluorochemical industry before 1976 was relatively unfavorable. An international fluorine chemical industry conference held in Japan opened a door for the development of advanced technologies for Japanese fluorochemical companies, and subsequently triggered the establishment of fluorine in Japan and Europe and the United States. The beginning of the chemical joint venture, the Japanese fluorine chemical industry has entered the fast track of development since then. “China has the advantages of raw materials for the development of fluorine chemical industry, as well as a large number of application markets, plus its own research and development capabilities, and more to carry out international cooperation and exchange activities, I believe China's fluorine chemical industry will develop faster.” .

Harada Koizumi also pointed out that China's fluorine chemical companies have considerable R&D capabilities besides San Aifu, Chenguangyuan, Juhua, etc. Many of them are only large-scale production-type factories and their R&D capabilities are not strong. It is unfavorable for the follow-up development of the company. This needs attention. She said that at present, among organofluorine products, Chinese companies such as HFC and fluoroelastomers all have their own technologies, but some more high-grade products such as organic fluorine-efficient pesticides and organic fluorine-based liquid crystal products, China has to rely on imports to solve it. . The introduction of these high-end products is not easy to succeed because it involves issues such as the protection of intellectual property rights. To a greater extent, it needs to be accomplished through independent innovation.
