On October 17, the reporter learned at the China-India Auto Parts Symposium jointly organized by the Indian Industry Federation and the Indian Embassy in Beijing that India is currently seeking to strengthen cooperation opportunities with China's auto parts industry and hopes to China's vehicle companies provide spare parts made in India.
At the seminar, Shetty, chairman of India's Auto Parts Industry Association, said that India’s human resources and software advantages have helped India’s auto parts industry to rapidly grow into an internationally competitive industry. In the export proportion of auto parts in India, a total of 56% are exported to Europe and the United States, and 27% are exported to other Asian countries. A total of 337 auto parts companies in India passed the ISO9000 certification, and 42 companies passed the ISO140001 certification.
Yan Jianlai, director of the Parts and Components Division of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, gave an overview of the development of China's auto parts industry at the seminar. At present, China has already formed a $24 billion auto parts production capacity and established more than 800 auto parts joint ventures. In 2002, the export value of auto parts in China was 2.5 billion U.S. dollars, and the export regions were mainly European and American countries. In 2002, China’s auto parts imports amounted to 7 billion U.S. dollars. From January to August this year, China’s auto parts imports have exceeded 6.5 billion U.S. dollars. Calculated according to the amount of imports in imported auto parts, automatic transmissions, steering systems for cars, and airbags are ranked first to third respectively.
