It is reported that Deutsche Telekom recently announced through the Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) prototype hub to accelerate the development of the Internet of Things. Deutsche Telekom said the prototype hub for the narrowband IoT lays the groundwork for the industry to take full advantage of the innovative potential of narrowband IoT and accelerate time to market for the benefit of businesses and users. Low-Power Wide Area Network (LPWA) Technology Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) is one of the most talked-about innovations in the M2M communications industry today; analysts believe LPWA connectivity will reach as much as 3 billion by 2023. The technology runs on the existing operator network licensed spectrum to support a large number of IoT devices. It is especially suited for applications requiring low bandwidth (from 100 bit / s to several bit / s), such as smart parking, smart metering or smart waste management, enabling deeper indoor penetration than current applications. With low power consumption and battery life of up to 10 years, the technology is environment-friendly and is ideal for volume production and deployment. Deutsche Telekom has been actively involved in the development of NB-IoT, and in October 2015 the deployment of NB-IoT, the world's first commercial network pre-standard, has been deployed. Together with 3GPP and GSMA, Deutsche Telekom has been instrumental in global standardization. With the completion of the 3GPP standard specification (Rel-13 in June 2016), it laid the foundation for the launch of NB-IoT in 2017.
