Brainwaves playing video game rehabilitation

<

The University of Ulster academic team develops Neurolympics, a controlled-electronics game that helps unspeakable patients communicate with physicians and their families.
Neurolympics players use their brains to control their computers. They move the neurons by moving left or right to intercept bright blue electronic signals that move along different networks and score points. Through Neurolympics, patients can hone their ability to send signals continuously and accurately to the computer.
Coyle, the leader of the R&D team, said that the purpose of the game is to improve the accuracy of the patient's sending signals so that they can engage in meaningful activities through the basic communication channels. Coyle said that the reason for the treatment in the form of games is to stimulate patients to concentrate on the course of treatment. Coyle previously used a group of patients with severe brain damage as test subjects. The results were encouraging. A patient who was unable to communicate verbally after being injured 15 years ago has progressed rapidly and has been able to answer questions by software.
