The plant is the first wholly owned enterprise established by Lear Corporation in Han with a total investment of US$25 million and a total construction area of ​​approximately 150,000 square meters. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in the first half of 2012.

Earlier, Lear has invested in 30 car seats and automotive electronics companies in China. In 1994, Lear set up a joint venture company in Wuhan to support Shenlong Motor.
